Civil Engineer / Engineering Technician

We are seeking a Civil Engineer / Engineering Technician who possesses a strong work ethic and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within a team environment.  The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity and respect in every aspect of their work and doesn't sacrifice these attributes while working under demanding time constraints. The detail-oriented civil engineer/engineering technician must possess the ability to effectively manage projects while executing critical thinking and strong analytical skills. 

This individual will be responsible for the engineering services related to land development design & utility construction for municipalities & private sector clients. In this role, the successful candidate will prepare construction plans, specifications, and permit applications; and may be required to perform site inspections, upon request. As such, the civil engineer/engineering technician must be able to convey pertinent project information with clients, site managers, contractors, etc. 

 

At McMillen Engineering we foster education at all levels. The civil engineer/engineering technician must be committed to continual professional development and work toward professional licensure.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • Minimum of two years of experience in Civil Engineering

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • General knowledge of the UCC Building Code   

Certified Building Inspectors

We are currently seeking qualified individuals whom are certified to perform plan review and inspections based on the adopted building code in Pennsylvania for both residential and non-residential projects.

Requirements:

  • Ability to travel throughout western Pennsylvania, and other potential areas, to perform inspections as related to the Pennsylvania state mandated building code

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Understanding of the construction industry and how construction relates to the state mandated building code

  • Ability to communicate clearly with developers, property owners, and contractors on the regulations and requirements

  • Willingness to continue scheduling exams for additional certifications for both residential and non-residential plan review and inspections, based on the Pennsylvania state mandated building code

  • Flexible working conditions based on inspections

  • Ability to work as an individual in the field and work as a team member in the office

  • AutoCAD experience preferred, but not required.

Land Surveyor / Survey Technician

We are currently seeking qualified individuals with working knowledge of field survey methods. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is able to efficiently lead a crew in accurately collecting data.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Associates degree or higher

  • Experience in deed research, boundary surveys, topographic surveys , transportation surveys, as-built surveys, construction stakeout and calculations

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.

Professional registration is not required initially, but it is expected that the applicant will be qualified to sit for the professional exams.​
