Engineering Explorers Post For thirty years, McMillen Engineering, Inc. had partnered with Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus and the Boy Scouts of America to sponsor the Engineering Explorers Post. This engineering program for high school students offered opportunities to hear from local engineers and tour local manufacturing facilities. THE PROGRAM Provides high school students a chance to experience the engineering profession from the inside. Focuses on various types of engineering - mechanical, electrical, civil, etc. - and corresponding job duties. Offers several local field trips for the students to see high technology in action. DETAILS & MEETING DATES The 2019-2020 program will begin with the first meeting on September 25 at 6:30PM at the Penn State Fayette Campus Community Center. Please download the below application, complete and bring with you to the first meeting to register for the program. Meeting dates and agenda will be reviewed during that session. The cost to register is $35.00 per year, payable at the meeting. Each property survey is different, affected by the unique nature of your property. Is the land wooded or open? How large is the property? How many corners will need to be marked? Is your need for a simple lot survey, or is the more extensive ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey survey more appropriate to your goals? Once we understand the scope and purpose of your survey, we will provide guidance regarding the most appropriate land survey type and provide a firm price quote. How long will my property survey take? Small residential surveys are usually completed within 1 to 2 weeks. Larger, commercial surveys may take from 30 to 60 days, depending on the needs of the survey. We are willing to consider expediting land surveys needed on a priority or "emergency" basis. There are many different types of land surveys , from simple residential lot surveys to large acreage woodland surveys. The Cadillac of surveys is referred to as the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey, which considers many detailed factors, including utility access to the property. There has never been a more accurate way to perform a land survey than GPS (Global Positioning System). Measurements with GPS are accurate to within 1/16th of an inch. Are you licensed? Yes. It is illegal to perform survey work in Pennsylvania without a license. Can you survey in winter? Yes. The ideal time to conduct a land survey is when the leaves are down, as this improves visibility and allows our surveying equipment—including GPS systems—to operate more effectively. McMillen Engineering established a design for a 115 feet tall water storage tank for the NPWA, providing civil engineering design and permit acquisition. CIVIL ENGINEERING NATIONAL PIKE WATER AUTHORITY CIVIL ENGINEERING AND PERMIT ACQUISITION McMillen Engineering worked with the National Pike Water Authority (NPWA) to provide water line in Henry Clay, Stewart and Wharton Townships and throughout Markleysburg Borough. While providing civil engineering design and preparing all required permits for the entire project, McMillen Engineering also worked in partnership with the NPWA, the municipalities, and the residents and business owners in the service area. Project scope for the National Water Pike Authority: Civil engineering Design Permit Preparation for the Entire Project Collaboration with NPWA, Municipalities, and Local Stakeholders Design of the Water Storage Tank Securing Funding PROJECT OVERVIEW When the National Pike Water Authority recognized the need to increase water supply for multiple residents throughout the four municipalities which it serves, they contacted McMillen Engineering to request a proposal for a solution. After conducting an assessment of the NPWA's needs and defining structural capabilities, McMillen Engineering established a design for a 115 feet tall, above-ground water storage tank with capacity for expansion of the system. The tank was constructed utilizing a distinct process which allowed it to be built from the ground upward without the necessity of a crane. This process permitted assembly workers to remain on the ground throughout the construction process and also allowed construction to continue through varying weather conditions.
